IC INFORMATION
Character Name: Isabeau (Technically Isabeau Manon Constantin Moineau in full, but it's never used even in canon!)
Species: Human
Canon: In Stars and Time
Canon Point: From the "In this moment you are loved" event that occurs after completing all the friend quests, becoming family with everyone and defeating the king.
Character Age: Early to mid 20s. It's never further specified.
CRAU: No
Character Appearance: Here. It should be noted that while he is in greyscale here and canonically in the world he comes from, he will actually be in color while in-game in Labyrinthum! He's a white (as in the race) guy with red hair.
Powers and Abilities: Here is a list of Isabeau's abilities in canon. TL;DR: He is capable of using Craft, which is basically just his world's kind of magic that's activated using hand signs. Isabeau in particular uses Rock Craft, which means he deals rock damage to enemies. I imagine it's kind of like getting hit by a rock. Not fun! He's also capable of using Craft to provide defense to other people or power himself up. I don't imagine it's something that has to be nerved if he'd ever regain it, given that it's basically like the magic any random party member from a RPG might use, nothing game-breaking in the slightest.
What Did Your Character Wish For? To Reach Siffrin. (See: his canon point event, where he's desperately racing over to try and reach them.)
What Potion Did They Receive? Gold
Did They Drink It? Not right away! But he's saving it, and I'm planning on having him drink it later.
If Yes, What Element/Animal? A brown bear!

Character Questions:
1. Who is the person your character is most bonded with from their canon, or who is someone they miss the most and why?
This is a particularly tricky question for Isabeau, since there's no one single person for him! He's absolutely not close with his family, and he doesn't seem to particularly miss his fellow defenders he left behind to go travel either. But when it comes to the current group he's traveling with (Siffrin, Mirabelle, Odile and Bonnie) I would say he feels equally bonded to all of them. Yes, he has a huge crush on Siffrin, but it doesn't mean he feels closer to him than to the other three. Because of how they have been traveling and fighting together, they all feel like family members to Isabeau - more so than his own family. He wouldn't be able to choose between them even if you asked him!

(Also because he's terrible at making complicated decisions, but that's another story entirely.)

2. What are they most afraid of and why?
Isabeau is a particularly brave person, and even described that way by other characters as one of his main character traits. And it's true - he doesn't run away from danger, never seems really scared about a fight. And while Isabeau might be a little bit afraid of ghosts, I would say his main fear is not something tangible, since he never seems afraid of anything that can be fought. Instead I would say Isabeau's biggest fear is about perception. He's terrified of being someone that others - or maybe especially he himself - can't like, to a point where he completely changed himself (both personality and appearance) over time to become someone more likeable. When he tells Siffrin about potential future changes he could make, he even asks "doesn't that feel like someone you wouldn't feel ashamed of knowing?" That is Isabeau's biggest fear - because he wants to be liked, and he wants to be someone that can do something good for other people.

3. What are their emotional, mental, and physical weaknesses and why?
Isabeau's biggest emotional weakness is that he does experience Big Feelings, which means he does tend to freak out over things. He gets very easily embarrassed, whereupon he starts shoving his face into his hands or doing the verbal equivalent of a keysmash. He's not a guy with a great pokerface, and he does tend to weak his feelings on his sleeves. I would say Isabeau's biggest mental weakness are his insecurities about his identity, as mentioned at length in the question above! And his physical weaknesses.. Well, he's worked hard to make sure he doesn't have those! He was just a little scrawny kid when he was younger, but he pushed himself to train so hard until he instead became buff as hell. If anything, I guess his physical weakness would be that he was worried about not being strong enough, but he made sure to change that!

4. What discrepancies are there between their inner self (who they feel they are) and their outer self (how they present themselves to others)?
As I mentioned above, Isabeau worked really hard to change himself. And despite how that change was practically a 180 from his previous self in both appearance and personality (he even transitioned!), I wouldn't say that he's faking being someone he's not right now. Although Isabeau changed so much, his mindset and personality changed right alongside it, which means that what you see on the outside is very much what you get on the inside. Isabeau is loud and brave and boisterous, both inside and out!

The only real discrepancy is the fact that because Isabeau does like being loud and brave and boisterous (he thinks it's welcoming and comforting for other people, which makes him feel good!), he tends to hide the fact that he's way smarter and more perceptive than he seems, mostly because he's worried it'd be a turn off for other people. He calls it an "airhead facade," and he's considering changing that about himself, because he gets bummed out when people think he's stupid.

5. What would make them happiest and why?
Though there are many things that can make Isabeau happy, the thing that makes him happiest is being able to do things for other people. He seems to get great joy out of being able to protect people now he's strong enough to do so - but not only physically, but emotionally as well. Isabeau will look after other people's physical safety, but also their emotions, constantly checking in on the people around him and making sure they're alright. He just feels good when the people around him are doing great and he knows he had a part in that! Maybe pat him on his head and tell him he's a good boy for it, that's the recipe for a happy Isabeau. (Though he'd be happy even without the credit, he's selfless enough for it!)

6. What characteristics does someone need to have to be your character's ideal significant other?
Considering the answer right above this one about what makes Isabeau happiest, he would need a partner that does need him in some regard. Dating a perfect person would likely not satisfy Isabeau in the long run, since he might start to worry about not really being able to do all that much for them. He would definitely want to be able to help his significant other. Aside from that, he also finds it very important for there to be humor in a relationship. This is even easily seen in canon, considering he has a big fat crush on Siffrin and is constantly losing it and laughing so hard at all of Siffrin's dumb puns. It's very attractive to Isabeau.

7. Would your character make a sacrifice to save someone else and why or why not?
He absolutely would. Without hesitation, too! Like I said, Isabeau takes a great joy out of being able to help other people, and he seems to find doing so important too. It's why - after changing up his body and becoming the buff guy he is now - he immediately joined the Defenders, considering he admired their dedication to the community. He wanted to help people and protect people just like he did, and in the end he even surpassed them, considering he was the only Defender to leave his post and join Mirabelle in her quest to save the world when she came to ask for help. Isabeau would do pretty much anything to keep other people safe. It's one of his most important goals in life!

8. What is one thing they would tell their younger self if they had the chance, or if your character is young, what is one thing they would want their older self to remember?
Considering Isabeau's huge transition, he would tell his younger self to change. It might not be the kindest message to give to a kid, but even though Isabeau is incredibly nice to the people around him, he's very, very harsh to himself. In canon he even talks about having "killed" the Isabeau he used to be pre-transition. Not literally, of course, but it does show that Isabeau has very high standards for himself and never goes easy on himself. So if his younger self came to him and talked about all their issues with their weakness and shyness and anxiety, he would just tell them to change all of that if they didn't like it.

9. When in dire circumstances does your character fight, flee, freeze or fawn and how does that look?
Isabeau's instinct is always to fight. Absolutely to fight! If he had other people with him and the situation would mean it was safer for them to flee than to fight or stay, then he would tell them to flee. But Isabeau himself? He's going to stand there and fight, even when it's dangerous. Especially when it's dangerous, really! He faces a life-threatening danger (the King) in canon, and never seems particularly afraid about it. He's going to stay and fight and protect others with it, because that's what comes naturally to him. You confront the threat to keep others safe!

10. Why did your character make the wish they did?
At Isabeau's canon point he - and the others, aside from Siffrin - all think that they're finally in the clear after having defeated the Big Bad. But afterwards it turns out that they're actually not in the clear at all. While resting after the battle, Isabeau and the rest of the party notice that there's something off with Siffrin. It's the time loop that Siffrin is trapped in restarting again, but since Siffrin never told the others about it, Isabeau has no idea what exactly is wrong. All he can see is that something weird is happening to someone so important to him, and (fight instinct!) immediately jumps into action, trying to run towards Siffrin to try and grab him to make sure he's safe. He was wishing to reach Siffrin to make sure the other was okay so desperately in the moment that it got picked up by Labyrinthum.
